Tribeca Rooftop Addition/Conversion
We have completed over 150,000sf of new condominium development projects to date in Soho and Tribeca. We provide complete services from initial zoning analysis and full project pro-forma’s through attorney general reports, tax lot drawings, design, construction documents and construction administration.
This is one of (4) additions we have completed atop late 1880’s buildings. This particular project involved placing over 120 tons atop a building built in 1882. It is, in essence, a building on top of a building. Developed as raw space, there is 1 ground floor commercial unit, 4 simplex units and 1 quadruplex with 10,000sf of interior space and 5,000sf of outdoor space.
We treated the existing building below as we would one of our landmark district projects, carefully cleaning and preserving the facades, matching the color of the original mortar and specifying custom wood windows to replicate the original window profiles. A corrugated awning was added to enhance the base and the character of the commercial units.
It was featured in The New York Times and the book, “New York 2000”
